DIY head bow

Sorry for skipping last week's video ^^' Today I made a small and simple bow, since I've got many requests on small, easy and cheap accessories. This fits all thee categories! I got the grosgrain ribbon for about two dollars, the charms were a bit over a dollar and the alligator clip I got a while ago, I got about 50 clips for two or three dollars. So cheap, so easy! But still cute and pretty ^^ Here's the tutorial.

I love how Fall is coming, the evenings are getting darker and chillier. I can't wait for Winter and snow <3

  1. That's really lovely!
I'm hoping to make a red grosgrain ribbon clip in that style myself ^_^
Could I ask where you get your alligator clips from please?
(It's hard to find ones in my country that are not huge!)

    1. Aww thank you :)
I bought mine from ebay, though it was a while ago and the seller doesn't have them anymore. I quickly made a search, and these look good: http://www.ebay.com/itm/10pc-Single-Prong-Metal-Alligator-Clips-Hair-Korker-Bow-HOT-/261204536719?hash=item3cd100ed8f . They are 4,4cm long, mine are 4,2cm so they're about the same size, and it has 12 clips for about 60cents :) Or this one, it has different sizes to choose from: http://www.ebay.com/itm/12x-Hair-clips-Accessories-Barrette-Silver-Prong-Crocodile-Alligator-findings-/331080837385?var=&hash=item4d15f4a909
      I hope this helped! ^^

  3. Asusteita saa kyllä tosi halvalla tehtyä :) itse hyödynnänä pitsienjämät ja nauhat, vanhat korut (esim. korvikset, joista toinen pari on hukassa) ja tietty Ebay:stä saa lähes ilmaiseksi askartelumatskuja ^^ Tosi nätti rusetti!

    1. Niimpä! Itekin uhrasin korvikset silinterille, vanhan kaulaketjun kettingiksi ja etsin aina tuunattavaa matskua. Jämät on ihanteellista asustemateriaalia, tulee samalla tehtyä mätsääviä juttuja. :)

  4. May I ask where you bought the charms? I can only find really cheaply made charms in my local crafts shops and there are not so many lolita-related motifs...

I love your tutorials, they are always interesting to see!
I am reading all my blogs on my mobile phone on my way to work, so I never watch the videos you linked immediately. Instead, I watch a bunch of your videos together some time later at home.
Therefore, I would like to see tutorials with description and pictures in your blog, but I can fully understand that it would be too much work for you to provide a tutorial in two ways (video and written). So my suggestion would be, if you could include a little more of the video in your blog. For example listing an overview of all the steps and materials, or a special hint that you share in the video or a picture of the pattern on paper for the skirt tutorial.

By the way, will you attend the lolita teaparty in October in Vienna...? ;)

    1. I got these at a local crafty store, they don't have a website... It's mostly just luck, some interior decoration stores around me also have some crafty items I buy.

Hmm, I think I can do more detailed tutorials here as well :) Most of my audience is in Youtube (because I have random cat / book / game things here as well, this is more for me and I put whatever I want in here, whereas my Youtube is lolita only) so I kind of never even thought about making more detailed tutorials here as well instead of just linking the video. I thought that videos would be handier for those who don't understand English that well (or my butchering of it) since I'm showing what I do, but I understand that sometime it would be easier (and definitely faster) to just read a bit and look at photos, perhaps kind of skim the whole thing before deciding it it's worth more detailed attention.

So I think I could write some written info as well. :) The major steps, required materials, patterns and some progress photos. Sometimes I won't be able to take a photo of a step if I filmed the whole thing, but them maybe I could take a screenshot? The written tutorial would be of course shorter than me writing down everything I say, but I could jot down the key points and tips. ^^ I'm currently in the process of making an A-line tiered skirt which will probably be my next tutorial, and since I've already started the project and cut the fabric, I can't photo those steps but can otherwise make it the first written tutorial as well.

TL;DR I didn't know there was an audience to written tutorials, but sure I could! ^^

    2. You completely understood my point, so cool: Kind of skim the content of the tutorial, and if some parts are interesting, watch the video later on the PC at home.
I am already familiar with sewing and how to make and modify clothes, so I would usually not watch a complete skirt-making-tutorial. But I am always interested to see how other people make "difficult" things like attaching the waist band, creating ruffles and to learn tipps and tricks. ;)

It might be possible to make a picture from a videos later with the editing program. Something like "store this frame of the video as jpg". I have also heard that some cameras allow to take a picture while the video is recording.

I think your English (grammar and pronounciation) is great! I also like listening to your voice.

I am looking forward to the new written tutorials!
Thank you so much for taking my feedback into consideration!
